Testing the Water

We've never been in Alamos during the 'Green Season'. We'd heard stories about how hot and humid it was and then we'd hear how it was the most favorite time during the year. Spectacular thunder storms, lush tropical growth, and a quieter more old Mexico feel.
Our trip down, ostensibly to get a little more work done on the place, was also an opportunity for us to test out the various theories on that controversial time of year.
My first impression was that the humidity was definitely higher. Our trip coincided with the tail end of Henriette so, the land had a lot of moisture to give up. Which wasn't helped by the nine inches of rain we experienced a few days after we arrived. The next thing I noticed was the absence of the Saguaro on the hills until I realized I had never been in Alamos when the deciduous side of the environment was in full flower completely masking the monster cactus.
All in all I'd have to agree with the summer time boosters. The weather is definitely different from what the snowbirds experience but without the contrast of the seasons it's difficult to fully appreciate the town as a whole.
